Discount is a free, private online tool that lets you calculate the sale price and how much you save from an original price and discount percentage. It runs entirely in your browser, so nothing you enter is uploaded to a server.
Privacy: this tool runs entirely in your browser. Your input is never sent to, received by, or stored on any server — there are no uploads and no tracking of what you enter.
A discount reduces the price by a percentage. 25% off means you pay 75% of the original price.
Enter the original price and the discount percentage to see both the amount saved and the final price.
Multiple percentage discounts multiply rather than add — 20% then 10% off is 28% total, not 30%.
A discount calculator tells you two things from an original price and a percentage off: how much you save, and the final price you actually pay. It takes the mental arithmetic out of sale shopping so you can see the real cost at a glance.
A percentage discount reduces the price by that fraction. The saving is price × (discount ÷ 100), and the final price is what's left: price minus saving (equivalently, price × (1 − discount/100)). So 25% off £80 saves £20 and costs £60. The tool computes both figures instantly.
A common shopping trap: '20% off, then an extra 10% off' is not 30% off. The second discount applies to the already-reduced price, so the combined effect is 1 − (0.8 × 0.9) = 0.28, i.e. 28% off, not 30%. Sequential percentages multiply rather than add — worth knowing before assuming a deal is better than it is.
Discount maths also helps you compare offers: is '£15 off' or '20% off' better? It depends on the price — 20% beats £15 only above £75. Working out the actual final price for each lets you choose the genuinely cheaper deal rather than the more impressive-sounding one.
Calculate sale prices while shopping, check whether a coupon delivers what it claims, compare competing offers, and work out margins or markdowns. The tool works on the pre-tax price; add tax separately if needed. It runs entirely in your browser.
