Salary is a free, private online tool that lets you convert a salary between hourly, daily, weekly, monthly and annual figures. It runs entirely in your browser, so nothing you enter is uploaded to a server.
Privacy: this tool runs entirely in your browser. Your input is never sent to, received by, or stored on any server — there are no uploads and no tracking of what you enter.
Job offers and rates come in different units — hourly, monthly or annual. Converting lets you compare them on equal terms.
Enter an amount and its period, plus your hours per week and weeks per year, and the tool computes annual, monthly, weekly and hourly equivalents.
These figures are gross (before tax). Your take-home pay will be lower after tax and deductions.
A salary converter translates pay between different time bases - hourly, daily, weekly, monthly and annual - so you can compare offers and rates on equal terms. An hourly contract, a monthly job and an annual salary are hard to compare at a glance; converting them to the same basis makes the choice clear.
The tool first works out your annual figure, then derives the others. To do this it needs your working pattern: hours per week and weeks per year. Annual pay = hourly x hours per week x weeks per year; monthly is annual / 12; weekly is annual / weeks worked. Changing the hours or weeks updates every figure.
An hourly-to-annual conversion depends entirely on how much you work. 40 hours a week for 52 weeks is the common full-time assumption (2,080 hours a year), but part-time hours, unpaid leave, or a contractor's billable weeks change the result significantly. Setting these accurately is what makes the comparison meaningful.
These figures are gross - before income tax, national insurance, pension contributions and other deductions. Your actual take-home pay will be lower, and the deductions are not linear because of tax bands. Use this converter to compare offers like-for-like, then use a tax calculator for your country to estimate net pay.
Compare a contract rate against a salaried role, work out the annual equivalent of an hourly wage, check whether a freelance day rate beats employment, and budget monthly from an annual figure. Everything runs in your browser.
