Quick answer

QR Code is a free, private online tool that lets you generate a QR code for any text, URL or Wi-Fi network in your browser and download it as PNG or SVG. It runs entirely in your browser, so nothing you enter is uploaded to a server.

How to use the QR Code

  1. Choose Text/URL or Wi-Fi mode and fill in the content.
  2. Click Generate to create a scannable QR code.
  3. Download it as a PNG (for screens) or SVG (for print).
  4. Test the code with a phone camera before using it widely.

Privacy: this tool runs entirely in your browser. Your input is never sent to, received by, or stored on any server — there are no uploads and no tracking of what you enter.

About QR Code

What is a QR code?

A QR (Quick Response) code is a 2D barcode that stores text — most often a URL — which any phone camera can scan instantly. They're everywhere: posters, menus, business cards and product packaging.

Text, URL and Wi-Fi

Encode a website link, any plain text, or a Wi-Fi network (SSID + password) so guests can join by scanning. The Wi-Fi mode builds the special WIFI: payload for you.

PNG vs. SVG

Download a PNG for quick use in documents and slides, or an SVG vector for print and large formats — SVGs stay sharp at any size.

Frequently asked questions

Are the QR codes really scannable?
Yes — they're built to the QR specification with proper error correction and verified to decode correctly.
Is my data uploaded to make the code?
No. The QR code is generated entirely in your browser; nothing is sent to a server.
Do the codes expire?
No. A QR code is static — it encodes your text directly and works forever.
Can I make a Wi-Fi QR code?
Yes — switch to Wi-Fi mode, enter your network name, password and security type, and guests can connect by scanning.

Understanding QR Code in depth

What a QR code is

A QR (Quick Response) code is a two-dimensional barcode that stores data - most often a web link - in a pattern of black and white squares that any modern phone camera can read instantly. They bridge the physical and digital worlds: a poster, menu, business card or product can carry a scannable link with no typing required.

How QR codes store data

The data is encoded into the grid of modules (squares), with built-in error correction that lets the code still scan even if part of it is dirty, damaged or covered by a logo. The three large squares in the corners are finder patterns that tell a scanner where the code is and how it is oriented. More data means a denser grid.

Text, URLs and Wi-Fi

Beyond plain links, QR codes can encode structured data. This generator supports Wi-Fi codes that join a network automatically when scanned (using the special WIFI: format with the network name, password and security type), as well as any text or URL. That makes it easy to share guest Wi-Fi without reading out a long password.

PNG versus SVG output

You can download the code as a PNG (a pixel image, ideal for screens, slides and quick sharing) or an SVG (a vector image that stays perfectly sharp at any size, ideal for print - posters, packaging, signage). For anything that will be enlarged or professionally printed, choose SVG so the edges never blur.

Practical tips and privacy

Keep good contrast (dark code on a light background), leave a quiet margin around it, and test it with a real phone before printing at scale. Static QR codes like these never expire - they encode the data directly. Everything is generated in your browser, so the content of your code is never sent to a server.
